I apologize for this being long, but I believe anyone with a Gmail account, Android Smart Phone, Google/Nest Electronics, and ANY other GOOGLE/YouTube Product and Service Should read this.

I woke up to an alarm going off on my wife’s Amazon Dot. An alarm that was set to go off after my alarm. Having set it up on my Google Home/Nest Hub for 6:20am before going to sleep.

So, thinking I slept through the alarm, or that my wife set an earlier alarm (to make certain I got up), I asked, HEY GOOGLE, What time is it? The reply I received was “Please log into your Google Home App on your phone” (or something very similar).

So I got out of bed and eventually made it to my phone… saw I was logged out everywhere, so I logged back in and got another message saying my account was suspended.

They claim I had multiple or serious violations to the Community Guidelines on a channel that I set up back in Feb/March of this year... That I didn't do anything with.

I was going to use the channel to become a local food influencer (restaurant reviews), however, I found that I didn't have the skills or time to attempt monetizing a channel. So it's been sitting.

I found out there was a problem when my alarm didn't go off Monday morning (Sept 16th, 2019) because they [Google/YouTube] suspended my whole account, which disconnected my in-home Google, Nest and Other "Smart" devices.

After getting access to the Google Home App on my phone my devices began working again, but I then found 2 emails from Google and 1 from YouTube that said my account was suspended.

The first email from Google had a link that allowed me to gain access to my email, Google Home, Chromecast, Nest, Home/Nest Hubs and speakers, etc. It also led me to a link that said I could appeal the suspension (which I honestly thought was fixed when everything came back on). So I clicked it and put in my name, email and the reason I thought the suspension was wrong. So I filled it out and in the box where I needed to explain why and what I was appealing, I wrote something like: I wasn't sure what happened. I then submitted the appeal.

At that point, I didn't even understand why or even what I was suspended for.

I went back to my email and looked at the other two emails. The second email from Google was to notify me that I was removed from my Family Group, which I thought meant my "Home" account that controlled all my devices - after-all I did have to log back in. So I went on to the third email, which was from YouTube.

That email said this:
"
We'd like to inform you that due to repeated or severe violations of our Community Guidelines (https://www.youtube.com/t/community_guidelines) your YouTube account Karl Grabowski has been suspended.

After review we determined that activity in your account violated our Community Guidelines, which prohibit spam, scams or commercially deceptive content (https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2801973?hl=en).

Please be aware that you are prohibited from accessing, possessing or creating any other YouTube accounts. For more information about account terminations and how our Community Guidelines are enforced, please visit our Help Center. If you would like to appeal the suspension, please submit this form.
"
After reading that, I clicked on the "this form" link and filled in the information there but for the "URL of your suspended channel" I typed: "youtube.com/I_Dont_Know" because I never did anything with it so I didn't know what it could have been. Again submitting the appeal.

I don't know why, but I still hadn't put together that it was the channel that started this whole mess. I thought the channel being suspended was just a side-effect of some other thing and not the other way around.

I then took to the phone support to try and figure this out.

It was during my first conversation with a rep at Google that we determined it was the channel that did everything in. The rep then told me that I would have to speak with a YouTube rep in order to get some answers and a resolution. So they sent me an email with a contact link to YouTube Support.

I clicked the link and asked for a call back. Within 10 seconds my phone was ringing and I was speaking with a new rep. I went through the whole story and was told that he couldn't do anything for me and that I would have to wait for the proper department to respond to my appeal. I asked for a supervisor because I told him when I filled out the appeal I didn't know what it was that I was appealing. An that even after reading everything and talking with the two reps, I still had mo more information as to what I was being accused of.

When the supervisor took over my call, I explained everything and he told me that he couldn't do anything because it was being handled by another department and they didn't take calls. Somewhere in our conversation, I mentioned (as I did in the previous one) that I was a YouTube Premium subscriber and he said there was a link he was sending me for Premium customer support. Outside of that, he couldn't help and I would probably have to wait for the results of my appeal.

So I clicked the link in that email and filled out that form, submitted it and waited.

I should also mention that after submitting each of the forms I received an email that said this:
"
Hello,

We have received your account appeal and will get back to you as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
The YouTube Team
"
Each time. It seemed like it was an automated exchange, where my email address/account was flagged in an "if from this account than this email".

At 6:47 pm on the 16th I received this email:
"
Hello,

Thank you for your account suspension appeal. We have decided to keep your account suspended based on our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Please visit http://www.youtube.com/t/community_guidelines for more information.

Please do not respond to this email. Replies to this email will not be processed. Please refer to our Help Center for more information.

Sincerely,

The YouTube Team
"
That's that.

I have sent a couple more emails that have come back with replies from what seems like actual people, however, in them, I was wold it was already decided and I that "Note: You connot (Spelling error, LOL) appeal a second time". In another reply, I was told I am banned from creating or possessing another YouTube account or channel.

Since then, every time I try to reach out by form or email, I get a reply just like all the one I received after filling out the forms. All seemingly automated.

I don't seem to have any recourse because In an email from presumably a real person I was told I only get one appeal.

I have a few issues with this whole thing. They are:

1. According to the published pages on the Google/YouTube site, I should have gotten "Strikes" and warnings before a suspension/termination. Not one but I believe up to 3 before this drastic action would be taken.
• What did I do on an empty channel that would warrant being almost banned from YouTube and removing me from devices I OWN without any warnings, and without any explanations?

2. Why does a youtube channel being terminated prevent me from having a YouTube Premium account for WATCHING videos?

3. Why are they banning me from having a YouTube account? That's right, I don't have a YouTube account at all. So I went from paying for Premium and being able to Watch, Subscribe, Like and Comment on videos to not being able to do anything but watch.

4. Why can Google block access to devices I own? Devices that I paid for? In fact, paid Hundreds of dollars for? 2 Google Home Hubs, 3 Google Home, 3 Google Home Minis, 3 Chromecast, and 1 Nest Thermostat. Not to mention that the Google product line handles my alarm clock, HVAC, video Doorbell, Lighting and was soon to handle security and more. Plus, I almost purchased a Nest Hub Max the night before but didn't because I wanted to see reviews first. And all WITHOUT a reasonable explanation of the absolutely horrible thing they claim I did. I'm assuming it had to be horrible to warrant this sort of treatment.

5. Google has pages that they send you to, to explain the process for suspension, termination and what they call "Strikes". These pages detail processes that didn't mirror what happened to me.

In fact, what they claim I did (which I still have no information about), must have been SO BAD that they skipped all the steps they say they go through if there are Copyright or Community Guideline violations.

And still without ANY explanation as to what actually happened or what the violations were.

Here are the pages that outline their current policies (I have screenshots and screencasts of them during this process in case they decide to make changes in the meantime).

https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/185111?hl=en&ref_topic=9387060

In the email I was told it the suspension may be from repeated violations - I have NEVER been informed of any channel violation.

Here is the entry page to the Channel terminations policies and guidelines:
https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2802168?hl=en&ref_topic=9387060

After reading up on the "STRIKE" system in place on the following page for the "Community Guidelines" violations I am accused of as stated in the emails I received —
https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2802168?hl=en&ref_topic=9387060 — I wasn't given any warnings or strikes prior to the termination of my account.

I am working on a website (currently on a free WordPress.com page, while I find and purchase the perfect domain,), that will have all this information, including the recorded phone calls to Google/YouTube along with screenshots and screencasts of emails, Google/YouTube policy pages, and progress with steps I am going to begin taking to help prevent others from being placed in similar situations.

With the current antitrust lawsuits being brought against Google, I believe I can make a case on the state and federal levels showing that Google has too much control of our lives both online as well as offline in the “smart device” area to conduct themselves this way without being held accountable.

Currently, the FREE website is: http://google154830978.wordpress.com

This will eventually point to the real ongoing site.

I truly don’t believe I did anything wrong and would really like my account back. I love YouTube and use it as a search engine, to learn how to do and about all sorts of things and sometimes just for fun.

There is no way for me to completely recreate what I built on the platform and I would never knowingly jeopardize my account.

On one of the Google/YouTube policy pages it says:
We understand mistakes happen and you don’t mean to violate our policies — that’s why the first violation is only a warning. Note that you’ll only be warned once. The next time your content is found to violate the Community Guidelines you'll get a strike. If you think we made a mistake, you can appeal the warning.
I wasn’t given ANY warnings. I’ve searched my email account, even the trash to see if I missed something. But I found nothing.

If there is a Google or YouTube employee here, or someone who know how I can navigate this unbelievably difficult process to get my account back, please reach out.
