My old Gmail account was suddenly deleted and I am unable to recover it 0 Recommended Answers 2 Replies 11 Upvotes

My old Gmail account was suddenly deleted and when attempting to do forgot password or to use the recover option I am told it doesn't exist. Also, when trying to use the same address again i am told it's already in use.

Not sure whats happened here and can't believe Google would just delete someones account with no notice as well as making it unrecoverable. I was definitely not doing anything wrong on that account which just makes it even stranger.

When you get the message "Couldn't find your Google account" that means either: (1) you have the account name wrong, or (2) the account was deleted at some point and can no longer be recovered.

Account names are never re-used. So if the account was closed/deleted you would get that it doesn't exist ("Couldn't find your Google account") AND can not be created (“That username is taken”). See: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/56256
