I am nearing the 15Gb limit of my Google drive and want to free up space. I have unsuccessfully tried the method suggested in a website, including whose URL prevents seems to prevent progress in this medium.

I have found a search term that DOES give the required result. It is modeled on "in:anywhere after:2009/1/1 before:2011/1/1" , but it offers only 50 emails to be deleted - requiring a very tedious process to delete ALL the relevant ones. Advice from the web that " All 50 conversations on this page are selected. Select all conversations that match this search" gets offered on ticking the Select-All box, is not realized in MY Gmail. So how can I delete ALL the thousands of unwanted emails in one fell swoop ?

What happens if you click on the Select all conversations that match this search?
Does the text disappear/change after?

from:(2018/01/01) to:(2019/11/01) in All Mail returns nothing when there are over a thousand mails.
