Two step verification does not work in the YouTube app

Hello,

I have been facing this issue for a few weeks already. When I try to login to my GMail on a different device, I get the notification to open the YT app and confirm. However, when I open the app, there is a little circle spinning but nothing ever happens, the verification through YT does not work at all.

I had the same this afternoon.   I've just got round it by (effectively) not letting it have the YouTube option: I signed out of Google Chrome on my phone, told it to delete the data when I did (which is fine, it's all there when you log back in).  Because I wasn't logged in on my phone, the other device which I was trying to get to access Chrome then didn't have any option except to send me a good old fashioned text, and now I'm in.  Hope it works for you.

Thanks to all for your patience with this issue. I have been informed today that iOS apps have recently been updated, so you should check to see if the app you have requires an update. This should resolve the issues.

Same problem here. Verification in YouTube is broken. To make matters worse, clicking the “more ways to verify” link shows YouTube as the only option now. Really idiotic.

Hi Peter, thanks for reporting what works for you. Unfortunately that solution does not work for me. I don’t use Google chrome and to my knowledge I don’t see anywhere in account settings to turn off YouTube Prompts. I did try signing in and out of YouTube on my devices to no avail.

Hello Peter, thanks, the workaround helped!

Same same!

Exact same problem. The solution was to do what another user posted. You have to use SMS authentication, a very roundabout way. No idea why this started cropping up recently.
