how to stop gmail loading automatically on start up.

Gmail automatically loads on start up and overrides other applications. Annoying!

Your question isn't eexactly clear. But, perhaps you can consider turning backgroud refresh off for Gmail and check if that helps.
  1. Open your device settings. 
  2. Scroll down  tap Gmail .
  3. Turn off Background app refresh.
