Our privacy and security tools let you control and protect your data. Your activity from the following may be saved in your Google Account:

• Services 

Your Google account saves data based on your Activity controls.

You can use My Activity to find and delete: 

• Topics you search
• Articles you read
• Videos you watch

Saved Activity gives you a personalized experience including:

• Faster searches 
• Recommendations
• A better YouTube homepage 

If you delete activity, it won’t be used to personalize your Google experience.

How My Activity works

Use Activity controls to:

• Choose what activity to save in your account.
• Customize privacy settings to best meet your needs. 

Activity comes from your use of: 

• Google products
• Sites
• Apps
• Devices that use Google’s services when you're signed in to a Google Account

My Activity lets you use saved data to:

• Access and manage your search history and activity in one central place from any device.
• View and filter activity by date, product, and keyword.
• Manually or automatically delete some or all activity. 
  • You can delete individual items, activity from a certain time frame, or all activity. You can also choose to automatically delete activity older than 3 months, 18 months, or 36 months.

How Google saves activity & content in other places

• Some Google products store activity in places other than My Activity. 
  • If Location History is turned on, your precise location is regularly saved to your Maps Timeline. 
    • At any time, you can delete Location History from your Timeline.
  • Your browser may save browsing history and other data. 
    • In Chrome, you can delete:
      • Browsing history
      • Other browsing data
    • You can browse in private to stop Chrome from saving:
      • Browsing history
      • Cookies 
      • Site data
      • Info that you enter in forms
• You can find activity that may be saved elsewhere at other Google activity.
• My Activity doesn’t store content or files like: 
  • Documents
  • Emails
  • Photos
• You can manage content or files directly in products like:
  • Drive
  • Gmail
  • Photos

How Google keeps your activity private

• Google Account comes with built-in security designed to detect and block threats like:
  • Spam
  • Malware 
  • Viruses 
  • Hackers
• Google stores activity securely with industry-leading encryption.
• You can require an extra verification step to view your full history on My Activity.
• If you have more than one Google Account, each account keeps its activity separate.
• We never sell your personal information.

Control your activity

Google Activity controls help you: 

• Choose what data your Google Account stores.
• Customize privacy settings to best meet your needs.

At any time, you can delete: 

• Data from My Activity.
• Location History from your Timeline.

For limited purposes, like business or legal requirements, Google may keep certain data for a period of time.

You can always download your activity.
