What happens to deleted activity

When you delete items from My Activity, they are permanently removed from your Google Account. You will no longer get suggestions, like search terms or recommended videos, based on activity you've deleted.

Google might keep some data with your account about your use of products and services. For example, if you delete a search, we'll still know that you did a search, but not what you searched for.

Stop saving activity

You can control most of the information that's saved in My Activity.

Data about your use of products & services

When you use Google products and services, we keep some data with your Google Account, like when and how you use certain features. We keep this data even if you delete activity or other items.

  • For example, if you go to My Activity and delete a search you did on Google, we might still know how often you do searches. What you searched for will no longer be stored with your account.

The Google Privacy Policy explains how we use this data. It helps us to do things like:

  • Prevent spam and abuse
  • Improve our products and services, and develop new ones
  • Understand how different products and features impact each other
  • Get business insights, like how many people use certain products or features and for how long

We keep this data as long as it's relevant to meet uses like those above. If you delete your account, we remove this data from it.
