Make Google your homepage

You can quickly get to Google every time you open your browser by making Google your homepage. Tip: You can also make Google your default search engine.

Change your homepage

Choose a browser below, then follow the steps on your computer. If you don't see your browser below, go to the "Help" section of your browser and look for information on how to change your browser’s homepage.

Google Chrome
  1. In the top right corner of your computer's browser, click More More and then Settings.
  2. In the "Appearance" section, turn on Show home button.
  3. Select the second option, then enter www.google.com.
Firefox
  1. Open your browser and visit www.google.com.
  2. Drag the tab to the Home button, then release. 
  3. Click Yes.
Safari
  1. In the top left corner of your screen, select Safari and then Preferences and then General.
  2. Next to "New windows open with" and "New tabs open with," select Homepage
  3. Next to "Homepage," enter www.google.com.
Internet Explorer
  1. In the menu bar on the top of your browser, click Tools.
  2. Select Internet Options.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the "Home page" section, enter www.google.com in the text box.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Restart your browser.
Microsoft Edge
  1. In the upper right corner of your browser, select More More and then Settings.
  2. Scroll down to "Open with" and select A specific page or pages.
  3. Open the list and select Custom. Then, select the "X" next to the current homepage.
  4. Next to "Enter a web address," enter www.google.com and select the plus sign.
Android browser (mobile only)
  1. Open your browser app, like Internet or Browser.
  2. On your phone or in the top right of the browser, tap More More.
  3. Tap Settings and then Homepage and then Other web page.
  4. Enter www.google.com.
  5. Tap OK.

Google is stuck as my homepage

Google won't change your homepage settings without your permission.

  1. Reset your homepage. Choose a browser above, then follow the steps to replace Google with the site you want as your homepage. 
  2. Check for unwanted programs. If resetting your homepage doesn't fix the problem, you might have unwanted programs called malware that's imitating the Google site. Learn about malware and how to remove it
