Recovering your account
Why is it so hard to recover a Google Account?
At Google, we take your privacy and security very seriously, and we will only return an account when we’re sure that it’s being returned to the account owner. Because Google doesn't ask for much personal information when you sign up for an account, we don't have many ways to verify that you own an account. The best way to make sure that you can regain access to your account if you get locked out is to keep your recovery options updated, and you can use these options on our password assistance page.
The recovery system didn't work, what do I do?
We're sorry to hear that you were unable to regain access to your account. On the list of recovery options on our password assistance page, there's a link to an account recovery form you can use to verify your identity. Be sure to fill out the form completely by providing your best guess to all the questions. If you've provided your best guess for all questions and the information didn't match our records, you might see a link for additional help. If your claim was unsuccessful, and you don’t see options for additional help, try submitting your form again with more information.
