Change BrailleBack settings

To review or change BrailleBack settings:

  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings.
  2. Open Accessibility and then BrailleBack and then Settings.

BrailleBack has three categories of settings: Device, Braille and Miscellaneous.

Device

Status

Displays the paired device status. Use this option to connect to an already paired device with a display.

Braille

Setting

Description

Braille type Choose literary braille or computer braille.
Literary braille table Set the correct language and the contracted (grade 2) or uncontracted (grade 1) braille grade.
Computer braille table Set the language for 8-dot computer braille and text input.
Word wrapping Turn word-wrapping off or on for text that doesn't fit on a single braille line. By default, word wrapping is on.

Miscellaneous

Select Developer options to set preferences for app developer testing.

Setting

Description

Log output level Sets the amount of output that BrailleBack generates in the Android debug log.
Show braille output on screen Displays the braille display content in a small window on top of other windows on the screen. You can use this feature to test braille support even without a hardware braille display.
Launch tutorial This option is displayed if the braille output is shown on screen.
