This update improves the Gemini experience in TalkBack with better answers and more languages for the following features:
- Ask Gemini
- Describe image
- Describe screen
It also includes quality improvements, like:
- Reduced announcement delays
- Improved braille keyboard shortcuts and gestures

You can also provide feedback for the responses. To provide feedback:
- Open the TalkBack menu, three-finger tap the screen.
- Tap Actions
Report a good response or Report a bad response.
Tip: When you focus on an image description, the actions to provide feedback appear.
Reduce delay
Important: Decreasing the announcement delay can make it more difficult to perform certain gestures like double-tap.
You can now reduce TalkBack announcement delay for touch exploration and typing.
To find the settings:
- To open the TalkBack menu, three-finger tap the screen.
- Double-tap TalkBack settings.
- Tap Advanced settings
Reduce delay.
- You can change the following settings:
- Reset all delay settings: This resets all delay settings to default.
- Focus delay: This allows you to set the focus delay.
- Single-tap to activate: This allows you to tap once rather than a double tap. The shorter focus delay means TalkBack announcements are made faster after you touch the screen.
- Typing focus delay: Shorter typing focus delay means TalkBack announcements are made faster after you touch the keyboard.
- Typing preference: You can select:
- Hold finger to select any key, then double-tap
- Hold finger to select letter key, then lift. Double-tap for other keys.
- Hold finger to select any key, then lift
- For the lowest delay when typing, select this setting. This automatically changes the typing focus delay to 0.15 seconds.
- Touch and hold delay when typing
Tip: If this is your first time to change the typing focus delay, this adds to the reading control.
Customize braille keyboard gestures
To personalize your keyboard needs, customize gestures for the virtual on-screen braille keyboard. Learn more about the braille keyboard.
To customize gestures:
- To open the TalkBack menu, three-finger tap the screen.
- Double-tap TalkBack settings.
- Tap Braille keyboard
Gestures.
- You can customize the gestures for the following actions:
- Basic controls
- Cursor movement
- Text selection and editing
Tip: To reset braille keyboard gestures to its default state, tap Reset all gestures.
Review other improvements
- An on-screen message now helps you quickly turn off TalkBack if it’s accidentally turned on. To turn off the message:
- To open the TalkBack menu, three-finger tap the screen.
- Double-tap TalkBack settings.
- Tap Show instructions for turning off TalkBack.
- The default keymap replaces the classic keymap. It includes more shortcuts for easier navigation.
