How items are shown on your braille display

We shortened some braille representations for a better reading experience on braille displays.

If you've used a braille display before, many of the representations will be familiar. The tables below contain the various element representations that you encounter while you use your braille display.

Description Braille representation

An element you can select on, equivalent to a double-tap

Braille dots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, then braille dot 3

Element you can tap and hold, equivalent to a double-tap and hold

Braille dots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, then braille dots 3, 6

A checked checkbox or selected radio button
