Personalize Chrome Browser by adding new features and background themes.

4.1 Choose a background theme

Choose a background image that appears when you open a new tab.

  1. In Chrome Browser, at the top right, click More Moreand thenSettings.
  2. In the Appearance section, next to Themes, click Expand New tab to open the Chrome Web Store.
  3. On the left, click Themes and select a theme.
  4. Click + Add to Chrome.
    When you open a new tab, the new theme appears.
  5. (Optional) To return to your default theme:
    1. Click More Moreand thenSettings.
    2. In the Appearance section, next to Themes, click Reset To Default.

4.2 Create a web page desktop shortcut

  1. In Chrome Browser, at the top right, click More Moreand thenMore Toolsand thenCreate Shortcut.
  2. Enter a name for the shortcut.
  3. (Optional) If you want the web page to open as a separate window, check the Open as window box.
  4. Click Create.

4.3 Go incognito

If you don’t want Chrome Browser to record your browsing and search histories, you can browse the web privately in Incognito mode.

Note: You’ll know you’re in Incognito mode when you see Incognito Incognito at the top of your browser.

  1. In Chrome Browser, at the top right, click More Moreand thenNew Incognito Window.
  2. Enter an address or search for a webpage.
  3. (Optional) To exit Incognito mode, close the tab.
