Transfer ownership of a file



You can transfer ownership of your Google Drive files and folders to someone else in your organization.

If you transfer ownership of a folder, you also have to transfer ownership of each file in the folder.

Transfer ownership of a file or folder""

  1. Open Google Drive and click the file or folder you want to transfer to someone else.
  2. Click Share "".
  3. To the right of a person you've already shared the file with, click the Down arrow "".
  4. Click Make owner.
  5. Click Done.

After you make someone else the owner of a file, you can edit the file unless the new owner decides to change your permissions.
