Share a file publicly



You can make files available to the public on the internet, such as case studies, conference programs, and more. You can choose whether people can only view the file, or if they can comment or make changes to it.

If more than 100 people will view your file at the same time, you may want to publish it as a web page instead.

Note: Search engines, archive bots, or other users might store data that you share on the internet. Make sure you’re comfortable sharing documents publicly.

  1. Choose an option:
    • Select one file to share.
    • Press and hold Shift to select multiple files to share.
  2. Click Share or Share Share and then Get link.
  3. Under Get Link click Change to anyone with link.
  4. To decide what people can do with your public link when you share it, select ViewerCommenter, or Editor.
  5. Click Done.
  6. Copy and paste the link in an email or any place you want to share it.

People who aren't signed in to a Google Account show up as anonymous animals in your fileLearn more about anonymous animals.

Now you can email or text the link to people, or you can publish it on a website. Anyone searching for the file or who has the link can find it.
