A group can contain one or more conversations. A conversation contains one or more posts (or messages) about a particular subject.
 

In this section, you learn how to:

3.1 Find a conversation 

  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. To search for a conversation, choose an option:
    • At the top, in the Search bar at left, click the Down arrow Down Arrowand thenAll groups and messages and enter your search term.
    • Open the group, and on the left, click Conversations. Messages in the group appear here.

3.2 Star important conversations

You can star conversations that are important to you, so you can quickly find them again. Open a group and on the left, click Conversations. Click the star next to the conversation.

3.3 Respond to a conversation

You can read and respond to posts using Google Groups or email, depending on how the group is set up.

Respond via Google Groups

  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. Click the name of a group.
  3. Click the message you want to read.
  4. Choose whether to reply to the group or individually:

    • To reply to the group, below the message text, click Reply all. Compose your replyand thenclick Post Message.
    • To reply only to the person who posted, below the message text, click Reply to author.  Your browser opens your configured email client to the message compose screen. Compose your replyand thenclick Send. This option is only available if:
      • You’re using a Google Account.
      • You have browser configured to open mailto links.
      • You have the Who can view member email addresses permission.
    • To forward a message, below the message text, click Forward. Enter some message textand thenclick Send.

Respond via email

  1. Click the post in your email inbox. You can select any email in the conversation thread to reply to.
  2. To respond only to the person who posted, select Reply. To respond to the whole group, select Reply all.

3.4 Start a new conversation

  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. Click the name of a group.
  3. Choose an option:
    • If there are no conversations in the group, click Start a conversation.
    • If you want to start a new discussion thread, at the top left, click New conversation.
  4. Enter a subject. Your email subject becomes the conversation subject.
  5. Enter a message.
  6. Click Post message.

3.5 Delete a post in a conversation

If you posted something, you can remove it. If you have the Who can moderate content permission, you can remove any post.

  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. Open the post you want to delete.
  3. In the message on the right, click More""and thenDelete.
  4. In the confirmation box, click OK.

Note: If a post is inappropriate, you can delete it and report it as abuse.
