How the device policy profile works

To keep your data safe, a security profile is installed on your Apple® iOS® device so you can access work information. This profile helps your administrator protect and manage your device. After the profile is installed, your administrator can:

  • Configure settings.
  • Manage information.
  • Enforce policies.
  • Make specific apps available.

After the profile is installed, your device will sync with the policies set by your administrator. Then, you can access work information on your device.

For more information, contact your administrator.

Renew your device policy profile

You need to renew your device policy profile yearly. You'll get a notification on your device when it's time to renew. To renew the profile:

  1. On your iOS device, tap Settings and then General and then Device Management
  2. Tap Update Profile

Remove the device policy profile

The profile helps your administrator protect and manage your device. If you remove the profile, you might not be able to access your work account on your device.

  1. On your iOS device, tap Settings and then General and then Device Management
  2. Tap Google Apps Device Policy Payload Profile.
  3. Tap Remove Management.
  4. To confirm, tap Remove.

Fix a problem

Unable to open Safari

Apple® Safari® is disabled on your device. To install the Google Apps Device Policy profile, you need to enable Safari on your device at General and then Restrictions.

New payload doesn't match old payload

You already have a management profile on your device. To fix the problem, remove the old profile by going to your device settings. Then, tap General and then Device Management and then Google Apps Device Policy Profile and then Remove Management.
