Send email from a custom address

With G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook (GSSMO), you can use Outlook to send messages from any email address you own—not just your primary G Suite address. You can use an email alias associated with your G Suite account or an address from another account you own, such as a personal email address.

A custom From address must be a working address where you can receive email. It can be the email address of another account or an alias for your G Suite account. (Email aliases are created by your domain administrator as described at Add or remove an email alias.)

Add a custom address

  1. Complete steps 1 to 3 (add, confirm, and change the address) in Send emails from a different address or alias.
  2. (Optional) To always send mail from the new address, make the address your default From address. For details, see Change default address.

Then, if you leave the From field blank in Outlook, recipients will see the default address as the sender.

Send and reply to a message from the new address

  1. To send a message, open a send window in Outlook and choose from a list of available addresses.

Tip: If you're using Outlook 2010 or earlier, you might need to enter the whole address in the From field the first time. After that, the address autocompletes when you enter the first few characters.

  2. Compose your message and click Send.

Note: You might receive messages sent to your custom address (if the address is an email alias for your G Suite account, for example). When you reply, your custom address shows in the From field.
