Are Google Workspace accounts no longer able to use Google Pay? 0 Recommended Answers 26 Replies 74 Upvotes

My daughter's iPhone got the new Google Pay app today. When she attempted to sign-in, she received the following error:
"Enterprise accounts are not supported on Google Pay"
"Enterprise accounts are not supported on Google Pay"
She has a Google Workspace (formerly called G Suite) account that she has been using with Google Pay for years.
I validated that both of the following are ON for everyone:
- Google Pay for Business
- Google Payments

Does anyone know of changes to Google Pay policies with the new Google Pay app that may have restricted access to Google Workspace users?

I'm in the same boat. I had been using Google Pay to pay for music lessons. There was a message saying the rollout of the new Pay app wasn't until early 2021, but I'm being forced to use it anyways... I've had a free legacy G Suite domain set up for a very long time for me and my family. We're not enterprise users.

Same here. This makes no sense. I can use Google Pay just fine on the old app. Now this new one doesn't work with my Gsuites account.

Same here. I have had a Gsuite account from when they were called Google Apps and were free to anyone. Moved my domain onto it, and bought all my Android apps on it, so moving away to a regular Gmail account would be problematic, but it seems Google just hates us and makes everything harder now. In order to get Assistant and Android Auto to work properly I had to switch to an old Gmail account for them, and had to export all of my contacts and import them into the Gmail account. Same for Calendar to work with Assistant.

Yeah, I don't think it's an technical issue, as much as it is a decision. Like the many other services that are not available for Google Workspace users for months.

You've directed us to contact support that is available only to paying Google Workspace customers. I think that most (all?) of us in this conversation have the free service.
Speaking for myself, I fully recognize that I'm getting this service for free. However, this change is putting us (and thousands like us) between a rock and a hard place regarding Google Pay.
Can you, or someone, help us understand whether and how we will be able to access Google Pay services once the cutover is final?
Thank you.

As Scott mentioned in a comment, I'm using the legacy free edition of Google Apps which doesn't have access to support
I'm not willing to upgrade to a paid version of Google Workspace because I'm pretty sure this issue impacts paying customers too.

It DOES affect Google Workspace paying customers! I have a GW account for all my personal matters. Just slammed my face into this stupid restriction. And worse, it appears I am now locked out of original Google Pay once the new app is on my phone.

Hopefully the response NickW got on Twitter will happen sooner than later. I too have the free Workspace tier for the same reason others have mentioned; being able to use my personal domain for gmail, etc. Like others have mentioned, it is getting harder and harder to be able to keep it. I personally like Samsung Pay much better than Google Pay, but there are times where Google Pay comes in handy. My daughters both tried to get Google Pay today and can't due to "Enterprise" accounts not being supported. I believe my device still has the legacy app as mine still works.
