I have been experiencing issues with a laptop's hard drive space being used up by Google Drive File Stream. It has gotten so bad that I cannot update Microsoft Office or any other software unless I pause/close File Stream. There have been a couple of posts about this but no resolution.

I have:
Made sure that only one Google account was signed in.
Tried a new laptop, problem continues on the new laptop.

The laptop is a new Macbook Pro running Mojave (MacOS 10.14.1). When the first laptop started slowing down and having issues with disk space I used migration assistant to transfer to another Macbook Pro. The issue continued. Has anyone here experienced this issue? Thank you for any help you can provide.

I am having a similar issue on Windows 10. I tried to do a transfer and immediately my hard drive started filling up with massive temp files in the User/Appdata/Local/Google/DriveFS directory, before throwing an error saying I did not have enough storage, and File Stream crashing. I did not attempt the transfer again because it was somewhat time critical and important. Sorry if this is diluting the issue, there was one other thread where we were told to come to G Suite help and here we are with no replies.

Hi Jeremiah Boyer,
Welcome to the G Suite Administrator forum.
If you have software installed that is reading/ scanning/indexing files, this will cause DFS cache to expand excessively.
Could be an antivirus/antimalware program
Please see https://support.google.com/a/answer/7491144?hl=en. At the end of this document is a way to reset the cache.
