Google Groups : Subject prefix feature does not work 0 Recommended Answers 9 Replies 11 Upvotes

Hello guys (and girls!)

I am a member of an association that set up a Google Group, linked to a G Suite account, to create a mailing list using the association's domain name and the Google Groups features.

Unfortunately, one of them does not seems to work : the Subject Prefix.

We indeed set up a subject prefix in the Email preferences of  the group, but nothing is added to the emails.
I did a dummy group under a googlegroups.com domain, the feature works like a charm.

Does anybody have an idea ?

I am having the same problem. I have tried with two different groups and multiple e-mail addresses in my organization, and I cannot get it to work. I hope someone has an idea for this, it would be very helpful.

Welcome  to G Suite Administrator Community
if  they sent a email to the group then the  subject prefix won't appear  but it will appear for others users who get mail from the group.

That's not the case for me.  When I send e-mails to the group from another address, I do not see the [prefix] in my other e-mail account.

Hi Kyle,

I am having the exact same problem! I have set up a google group, added a subject prefix into the subject prefix field under 'email options', but when I send an email to the google group, the subject prefix does not appear for the people who receive the emails.

I have logged in and out numerous times, restarted the computer, added and subtracted members, and it doesn't seem to work. It would be great if someone could explain how to fix this problem!

Kyle and Mona , the original poster ( Rémi ) only appears to have the problem
on their G Suite domain, while the prefix works on a group they created
on the free consumer Google Groups.
Is that also the case for both of you ?
Also , did you create a new topic or reply to an existing topic when testing this ?

Hey there Matti nescio, I am only using the free consumer Google Group, not G Suite Domain, and I set up a new topic, a test email to everyone in the group.

Hello Guys,

Matti is absolutely right.

I only have this issue with a third party domain managed by G Suite : no matter what the prefix settings are under the GoogleGroups, I have no prefix showing up on the emails that are sent to the group.

for the free consumer GoogleGroups it works fine.

Do you guys have any idea to fix this ?

Best regards,

I have the same problem. Prefix is added on googlegroups but not my own domain.

Same problem here! Also, we are unable to get the group messages published/archived on the groups.google.com/XXXXX page, and our customized signature message will appear or not, randomly. Also, Groups seems to ignore our settings about sending replys to the whole groups, and it keeps replying only to the sender by default.

My suspects are that this is not a bug, but a "feature" or limitation for non-paid legacy G Suite accounts :(

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks in advance and have a good week.
