Google Drive File Stream starts up and continually crashes on Mac High Sierra 0 Recommended Answers 17 Replies 52 Upvotes

I'm trying to use Google Drive File Stream on a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018) running High Sierra version 10.13.6.
I installed File Stream and had a little trouble clicking the allow button (it took several tries) in the security settings, but was up and running after a little bit.
Now whenever File Stream starts, I see the little icon appear and it just seems to disappear, it crashes right away. Opening up the application will do this—I double click, see the little icon appear at the top of my screen and it flashes a few times then disappears. I can't see the drive anywhere or any of my files which had previously synced.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application several times (including clearing the cache) but nothing changes.
