My email is being used by someone else

When I opened my google mail app I saw many strange emails from car insurance companies (with quotes) a medical insurance company and medical app. And much more, none of them in my name , but all seem to be originated in Texas.

I would like to delete this account permanently, how do I go about doing that?

Hello Bonnie,

Your email is probably being used by somebody else IN ERROR, and that would stop when they eventually discover that emails are not reaching their inbox. No need to rush and delete your account.

Not quite correct as I have too many emails from sites I have not visited or signed up. This was not in error. It was hijacked IMHO. 😟.

Several questions:

1: how do I permanently delete the account in question? I really no longer use or need it.

2: I now realize I have more of these ( dormant??) Accounts hanging around in .gmail.com.

3: How do I find them and then permanently delete?

PS. be gentle with me as I’m very much a senior citizen , my mental acuity isn’t as sharp techie wise!👵🏻

First you need to believe me that it was likely to be an error. The other person visited those sites and submitted a slightly incorrect email address as theirs. Now everything is coming to you instead of that person.
