How do I clear or reduce the Drive File Stream Cache size? Its filling up my disk! 1 Recommended Answer 11 Replies 76 Upvotes
So I am currently using Google Drive File Stream
I have it set to store the cache on my secondary 500GB SSD.
I had an issue where my cache was sitting at around 130GB, and my drive had less than 1GB of free space left, meaning when trying to copy a large file, it told me I was unable to, because it thought there was not enough space (whereas there would be if the cache wasn't so huge)
I have tried doing the registry edit to add the QWORD ContentCacheMaxKbytes value (set at 20GB). But even after setting that and restarting my cache is still well over 100GB.
I only have one folder set to "Keep offline". Everything else is online-only. The one folder is only 20GB in size. So in theory that plus the max 20GB cache should result in an absolute maximum local disk usage of 40gb.
Why is it still using over 100??
How can I fix this?
And what files/folders can I delete to manually clear out the cache? not only is this issue preventing me from adding more files to my google drive, because there's not enough space to temporarily cache them (cause old cached stuff is not being cleared), but it also means my disk is now full and has no room for other local stuff.
How do I clear my cache?
thanks!
