Hi Community members,

Our community is growing fast and there are more people seeking help! With more traffic, it will become more difficult for our community users to find the right answers quickly.

That leads us to ask a favor from you all: shall we start marking recommended answers more actively so our users can find solutions faster 😊? That means if you ask a question and receive a great answer please give it a green tick. Doing so will help the answer receive more attention!

What are the benefits of recommended answers?
  • Threads with recommended answers will have an easy-to-spot green tick next to it, which helps with navigation and saves browsing time.
  • Recommended answers will help users level up. This will help our Community grow and encourage others to continue participating.
  • Recommended answers will be bumped to the top of the thread so users don’t have to read through the whole thread.
  • Also, marking recommended answers is like giving fellow community members a pat in the back for a job well done 🖐
If you’ve been providing answers in the community, you might be wondering what makes a great answer. We’re very happy to share a few pointers by our top performing Product Experts. We hope you find these tips handy and have more answers marked as recommended
  • Be Quick to Identify the Issue by asking all relevant questions to collect troubleshooting data instead of having to return with more questions instead of solutions.
  • Prepare Checklists: These attempt to cover all the possible causes of a given problem. The intent is to only give the user information that applies to the specific case. It’s also helpful to order the possible fixes in a priority order with the most likely to work at the top of the list. The hope is that if they work down the list, they'll fix the problem quickly and be able to skip the rest.
  • Use only the Necessary Links: Be careful to not overload answers with too many references/links. The more links included in an answer, the less likely a user is to click on any of them.
  • Keep it Short: Typically, a user will read a paragraph or two. If an answer is a page or more in length, you'll be lucky if they read past the first few paragraphs. There are exceptions to keeping answers short. Super-set answers tend to be a long list of things. But the principle is to make the content short enough that users will actually read it.
  • Follow-Up: Keep in mind that a lot of users will never return to the thread. So you get one chance to get them the information they need to solve the problem. Even when you have to ask questions to collect troubleshooting data,, many users will never return to answer. If they do return to the thread, you have to keep them engaged until you work through the problem to a solution or answer.
  • Keep it Balanced: In addition to being short, answers need to be balanced and simple. This is a real problem because simple (step-by-step) answers usually aren't short. Many long answers aren't (making them "simple" would just make them even longer).
