Cannot delete Google Workspace account - Gives "Active GCP Projects" error but there aren't any

I created a Google Workspace account and then used Classroom to create classes for my students. Things didn't turn out the way I expected (Google Forms doesn't integrate very well for online testing) and I ended up deleting all the classes - but one of them won't delete (talked to Google Support and it's a known issue - cannot even delete the students). So then I tried to delete the whole workspace account (privacy policies do not allow me to keep student information). I canceled my Workspace subscription (was still in the free trial period), deleted all files in Drive, the Google Cloud Platform is totally empty (the Resources pending deletion page is also empty) and still I get "You have active projects in Google Cloud Platform. You need to delete all GCP projects before you can delete this account. Learn more". The Delete button is grey and inactive. Somehow I need to erase this account and any help is truly appreciated!

1. Go to GCP console: https://console.cloud.google.com
2. On the sidebar, go to IAM & Admin -> Identity and Organization
2A. If your listing is under a project, it will show something like "Page not viewable for projects." Next to it, make sure the domain is selected and click the select button.
2B. Under Set Permissions, click "Set Permissions".
3. If you are listed under the members, edit your user. If not, add yourself.
4. For your roles, add: Organization Admin and Folder admin. Save your new roles.
5. Now, back to the project list and delete everything.
With Organization Admin rights, you should be able to see all projects but you need Folder Admin rights to delete folders/subfolders.
Once deleted, you can then go back to GSuite and the Delete GSuite button should work. You don't have to wait 30 days for the projects to be deleted.

Dear LMcKin51, thank you so much for helping!
Your instructions were very clear and I followed them up to #5. After giving myself those roles I can see the content in the Google Cloud Platform. Problem is, one of the subfolders won't delete because "it contains active resources" (see pictures). But the folder seems empty. That means I'm still stuck. I pray you have some additional suggestions!

Did you try open that apps scripts folder and then see if you can delete that project or
try this
Delete the project
- In the Cloud Console, go to the Manage resources page. Go to Manage resources.
- In the project list, select the project that you want to delete, and then click Delete.
- In the dialog, type the project ID, and then click Shut down to delete the project. or
To shut down a project using the Cloud Console:
- Open the Settings page (found under IAM & admin) in the Google Cloud Console. Open the Settings page.
- Click Select a project.
- Select a project you want to delete, and click Open.
- Click Shut down.
- Enter the Project ID, then click Shut down.
