Hello Suresh,

Can you reinstall Google Apps Sync and see if that resolves the issue.

Important Announcement about Google Calendar Sync

Almost two years ago, we announced that we ended support for Google Calendar Sync. Starting on August 1, 2014, this app will no longer sync events between your Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook Calendar.

Hi!

Are you using a Gmail account? Or a Google Apps account?

Greetings!

Google Apps account (free version).
Google Calendar Sync (as in the original post; not Google Apps Sync) does not work anymore.
That error is coming from Google Calendar Sync.

I am having this issue as well. I tried everything. I noticed it started after I enabled the 2 way security on my Google account.

I did go create a new app password for it and that connects because if I get it wrong, it says wrong username or password. when I make it right, it just gets the 2016 error.

Then I tried, right clicking on it before I started it and clicking "Run As Administrator" and that did get rid of the 2016 error.

So it must be a permissions error. How do I fix that?
Where do I go to fix that?

I checked my Temp folder, the permissions are right for it.
So where do I check permissions at? for which files?

Thanks,
Richard

Hi Richard, I'm having the same issue as well.  I'm trying to use it for the first time..

Are you saying that if you run the Sync App as an Admin, it works?

Rick -

I don't work for Google and can't speak for the implementation, however, the services provided by Google Calendar Sync clearly required both an app running on your PC (Google Calendar Sync) as well as a back-end server app to process the synchronization activity from both Outlook and from mobile devices.  My understanding is that Google obsoleted the entire service in two steps - 1) Discontinued and removed access to new users who wanted to download Google Calendar Sync; 2) Discontinued the server based app that provided the back-end support for synchronization.  On this second point Google sent out the following email on 7/8/14 -

Important Announcement about Google Calendar Sync

You can continue to access all of your Google Calendar events at calendar.google.com or on your mobile devices. Follow these instructions to uninstall Google Calendar Sync from your computer.

Bottom line is that at this point there is no way to back up to a previous supported version since the back-end server support is absent.  However, I can say that Google Apps Email with the "Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook" functionality works very well.  We pay a small monthly fee/user for the service now but find it very reliable and worth the price.
