In Google Groups, your subscription settings determine whether you receive email from groups. Global settings let you choose whether to receive notifications, invitations, and in-product help.

Manage your subscriptions

Using new Groups
  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. Click My groups.
  3. For the group you want, in the Subscription column, click the Down arrow.
  4. Select from the following:
    • Each email—Messages sent individually as they're posted to the group.
    • Abridged—Up to 25 complete messages combined into single emails and sent daily.
    • Digest—Summaries of up to 150 messages combined into single emails and sent daily.
    • No email—Messages from the group are not sent.
  5. Click Save changes.
Using classic Groups
  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. Click My groups.
  3. Click the name of a group.
  4. At the top right, click My settings My settings and then Membership and email settings.
  5. In  the membership settings window, choose an option in the Email delivery preference section:
    • Don't send email updates: No email messages from the group
    • Send daily summaries Up to 25 complete messages combined into single emails and delivered daily
    • Send combined updates: Summaries of up to 150 messages combined into single emails and delivered daily
    • Notify me for every new message: All messages emailed individually as they're posted to the group
  6. Click Save.

Manage your global settings

Currently, this feature is only available in classic Groups, but it’s planned for new Groups.

Using classic Groups
  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. If you're using new Groups, temporarily go back to classic Groups:
    1. In the top right, click Settings Settings.
    2. Click Return to classic Google Groups.
  3. Click My groups.
  4. Click the name of a group.
  5. At the top right, click My settings My settings and then My global settings.
  6. Review or change your settings:
    • Notification settings (for the group you’re viewing only): Get notified if someone changes the status of a message or topic you posted. Changes include assigning topics to members or marking content as duplicates.  
    • Add/Invite settings: Allow group managers to invite you to join their group, add you directly, or both.
    • Notification settings (for all groups you belong to): Get notified if someone assigns a topic to you.  
    • Bounce status: See if your email address is flagged to indicate that messages you send are bouncing.
    • In product help: Get notified to take a tour of new features when they’re released. Click the button to view all current tours.
    • Change display language: Select a default language for viewing Google Groups.
  7. Click Save.
