Pritunl cloud application

You must be signed in as a super administrator for this task.

With Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), your users can sign in to enterprise cloud applications with their Google Cloud credentials.


Set up SSO via SAML for Pritunl

Step 1: Set up Google as a SAML identity provider (IdP)
  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

  2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Appsand thenSAML apps.
  3. Click Add at the bottom right.
  4. Locate and click Pritunl in the application list.
  5. On the Google IDP Information page:
    1. Note the SSO URL.
    2. Note the Entity ID.
    3. Download and save the Certificate.
  6. Click Next.
    The Basic information window shows the Application name and Description seen by users.
  7. Click Next.
  8. On the Service Provider Details page, the ACS URL and Entity ID fields are automatically populated.  Edit these fields replacing the values with ones for your configuration environment, as listed below.
    1. For the ACS URL, use the default values.
    2. For the Entity ID, enter pritunl.
    3. For the Start URL, enter the address you'll use to log in to the Pritunl servers.  Use this format:
  9. For the Name ID, use the primary email (the default).
  10. For the Name ID Format, use Transient.
  11. Click Next.
  12. On the Attribute Mapping page, set Select category and Select user field values as follows for the listed attributes:
    Application attribute Select category Select user field
    username Basic Information Primary Email
    email Basic Information Primary Email
  13. Click Finish.
Step 2: Set up Pritunl as a SAML 2.0 service provider (SP)
  1. Open a new incognito browser window and sign in to Pritunl as an administrator.

  2. Open the setting dialog in the web browser and select SAM and Single Sign-on mode.

  3. Do the following:

    1. For the SAML Sign-on URL, paste the SSO URL you copied in step 1.

    2. For the SAML Issuer URL, paste the Entity ID you copied in step 1.

    3. For the X.509 Certificate, paste the Certificate you copied in step 1. 

  4. Click Save

Step 3: Enable the Pritunl app

  3. Select Pritunl.
  4. At the top right of the gray box, click Edit Service .

  5. To turn on or off a service for everyone in your organization, click On for everyone or Off for everyone, and then click Save.

  6. To turn on or off a service only for users in an organizational unit:

    1. At the left, select the organizational unit.
    2. Select On or Off.
    3. To keep the service turned on or off even when the service is turned on or off for the parent organizational unit, click Override.
    4. If the organization's status is already Overridden, choose an option:
      • Inherit—Reverts to the same setting as its parent.
      • Save—Saves your new setting (even if the parent setting changes).

  7. (Optional) Turn on the service for a group of users.

  8. Ensure that your Pritunl user account email IDs match those in your Google domain.
Step 4: Verify that SSO is working
  1. In a new incognito browser window, go to  
  2. Enter your primary email address and click Sign in with SAML. You should be automatically redirected to the Google Sign-in page.
  3. Enter your credentials. After your credentials are authenticated, you are automatically redirected to Pritunl.
