Calendar Interop system requirements

Before setting up Calendar Interop, make sure you meet the following requirements.

Exchange requirements

  • Microsoft Exchange 2013 or 2016 or Exchange Online (Microsoft 365)
  • Inbound and outbound internet connectivity for Exchange Web Services (EWS)
  • An SSL certificate (issued by a trusted public root certificate authority) for the Exchange server
  • An Exchange role account that Google Calendar uses to access Exchange

Google requirements

  • You need a Google role account for Exchange to access Google Calendar.
  • You must turn on access to additional services for all users or for specific organizational units. For details, go to Turn on or off additional Google services.

Authentication

Microsoft announced that, from October 1, 2022, it will begin disabling Basic authentication for EWS and instead provide support for OAuth 2.0. For details, go to Deprecation of Basic authentication in Exchange Online

Calendar Interop supports Basic authentication for on-premises Exchange and OAuth 2.0 for Exchange Online (Microsoft 365).

Using Calendar Interop with other calendar products

If you're using Calendar Interop, you can't use Google Calendar Connector for HCL Notes (GCCHN). Google Calendar supports only one external source of availability information at a time. To learn more about GCCHN, go to Share availability with HCL Notes.
