Help prevent phishing with pre-delivery message scanning

As an administrator, you can help Gmail identify suspicious content by enabling enhanced pre-delivery message scanning.

When Gmail identifies that an email may be phishing, it might show you a warning or move the email to Spam. Enhanced pre-delivery message scanning improves how to identify suspicious content.

When Gmail detects suspicious content, it introduces a short delivery delay to perform additional checks. Gmail does this through a setting that can be turned on in your Admin console.

Enable enhanced pre-delivery message scanning

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Appsand thenGoogle Workspaceand thenGmailand thenSpam, Phishing and Malware.

Note: You might find this setting at Appsand thenGoogle Workspaceand thenGmailand thenAdvanced Settings.

  3. Select your top-level organization.
  4. Scroll to the Enhanced pre-delivery message scanning setting.
  5. Check the box to apply the setting to your domain, or uncheck the box to turn the setting off.
