Troubleshoot custom user attribute errors

As an administrator, while you configure custom user attributes, you may see these errors on the Admin console:

  • Stale page errors

  • Transient page errors

  • Permanent errors

Stale page errors

Stale page errors occur when the user browser page hasn't been refreshed and the custom user attribute configuration has changed outside of this browser session (from a different browser window or by a different user). 

Error message How to resolve the errors
CATEGORY_NAME doesn't exist. Try refreshing the page.  Close and relaunch the Custom Attributes dialog box.
CATEGORY_NAME has already been created.  Close and relaunch the Custom Attributes dialog box.

 

Transient page errors

You can resolve this transient page error by retrying the action after some time. 

Error message How to resolve the errors
We're sorry. Admin console couldn't load all user attributes. Please try again.  Close and relaunch the user create/edit dialog box. 

Permanent errors

You'll see these permanent errors if you exceed the permissible limits for the number of custom categories or the number of attributes across categories.

Error message How to resolve the errors
Maximum number of custom categories is 100. Reduce the number of custom categories to under 100.
Maximum of number of attributes across custom categories is 100. Reduce the number of custom user attributes to under 100.
