Unlock your domain

If you want to transfer your domain or make changes to your domain's name servers, you'll need to first unlock your domain with your current domain host.

I brought my own domain to Google Workspace

Already owned your domain when you signed up for Google Workspace? Visit the support center of your domain host for unlocking instructions. Who is my domain host?

I purchased my domain when I signed up for Google Workspace

If you purchased your domain during sign-up, your domain is hosted by a Google Workspace partner host.

Follow these steps to identify your domain host. Then select that host below for steps to unlock your domain.

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. In the Admin console, go to Menu and then Accountand thenDomains.
  3. Click Manage Domains.
  4. Next to the domain you want to unlock, click View Details.

  5. Click Advanced DNS Settings to view your domain registrar Sign-in name and Password and to sign in to the DNS console where you can unlock your domain.
GoDaddy

To unlock your domain:

  1. From the Advanced DNS Settings, note your GoDaddy Sign-in name, Password, and Customer service PIN.
  2. Click Sign in to DNS console.
  3. Using the Sign-in name and Password noted previously, sign in to the DNS console.

  4. Next to the domain you want to transfer, click More and thenDomain Settings.

    Domain Settings is selected from the More icon drop-down list.

  5. Scroll down to the Additional Settings section and click the Domain lock to turn it off.

eNom

To unlock your domain:

  1. From the Advanced DNS settings, note your eNom Sign-in name and Password and then click Sign in to DNS Console.
  2. Using the Sign-in name and Password noted previously, sign in to the DNS console.
  3. Under Registrar Lock, click Edit.
  4. Select Disable and click Save.

To unlock your domain:

  1. From the Advanced DNS settings, note your domaindiscount24 Sign-in name and Password and then click Sign in to DNS Console.
  2. Using the Sign-in name and Password noted previously, sign in to the DNS console.

  3. From the menu on the left, click Domainsand thenMyDomains.

  4. If the domain you want to transfer has a lock next to it, click the lock to unlock your domain.

Google Domains

Google Domains is a domain registration service. It's separate from Google Workspace. 

To unlock your domain:

  1. Sign in to Google Domains.
  2. If you have multiple domains, click the name of the domain you want to transfer.

    Note: If you don't see your domain listed, you might be signed in to a different account. Learn more about switching accounts.

  3. From the Domain overview page, on the left, click Registration Settings.

    From the Menu, Registration settings is selected.

  4. Scroll down the page to the Domain Lock section. If your domain is locked, turn the lock off.

    Domain is locked.
