iPage: Verify your domain

Tip: For convenience, expand the steps in this article and print it to refer to as you go through the verification process.

Why verify?

After you verify that you own your domain, you can start using your Google service, such as G Suite, Drive Enterprise, or Cloud Identity. If you have G Suite, you can start using Gmail, Google Drive, and all the other services included with your G Suite account.

How do I verify?

When you sign up for your Google service, you get a verification record that you copy and paste into your domain settings (usually stored with your domain host).

Step 1: Get your unique verification record

If you already signed up for G Suite but didn't complete the setup process, you can pick up where you left off.

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. At the top of the Admin console Home page, click Click here to continue setting up the Admin Console.

  3. Click Verify

  4. Click Continue to verify your domain with a TXT record. You can also click Switch verification method if you need to use another method.A red circle highlights the Continue button at the bottom of the Here
  5. Click Copy to copy your unique verification record.A red circle highlights the Copy button next to the TXT verification record.
Step 2: Sign in to your domain host
  1. In the Admin Console, on the Verify your domain and set up email page, click the link to open your domain host sign-in page in a new tab.

    Note: If the Admin Console doesn’t provide a link to your domain, open the iPage® site in a new tab. Keep the Admin Console open in the first tab.

  2. In the Control Panel tab, enter the username or domain and password you created when you purchased your domain from iPage.
  3. Click Log in.

    If you don’t know your account information, you can reset your password or contact iPage support.

Step 3: Add the verification record to your domain's DNS records
  1. From the Domains list at the top of the page, click DomainCentral.

    DomainCentral is selected from the Domains tab list.

  2. Click the domain name you want to verify with your Google service.
  3. Under your domain name, click the DNS option.

    If you don’t see this option, contact iPage support to request that they add it.

  4. Open the instructions for the type of verification record you want to add to your domain’s DNS records. Add a TXT verification record (most common)
    1. From the Modify list, select TXT/SPF Record.

      The TXT/SPF Record option is selected from the Modify list.

    2. In the open Content field, paste the entire verification record that you copied in step 1.

      The TXT verification record is entered in the Content field. The Add button is selected.

    3. Click Add.
    Add a CNAME verification record
    1. From the Modify list, select CNAME Alias.

      CNAME Alias is selected as the record type from the Modify list.

    2. In the open Host field, paste the contents of the Label/Host portion of the CNAME record provided by the Setup Wizard in step 1.
    3. In the Points To field, paste the long string of text and numbers from the Destination/Target portion of the CNAME record provided by the Setup Wizard in step 1.

      The CNAME verification record has been entered into the Host and Points To fields.

    4. Click Add.
Step 4: Tell Google to verify
  1. Return to the Admin console. If necessary, click the link at the top of the page to continue setting up the Admin console.

  2. Navigate to the Verify your domain page. 

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Verify my domain.

G Suite: Next steps

Now it’s time to set up Gmail with your G Suite account.

  1. Keep the Admin console and your domain host pages open.
  2. In a separate browser tab or window, follow the instructions to set up Gmail (MX records) with your host.
