Turn Inbox by Gmail on or off

As the G Suite administrator, you can control whether Inbox by Gmail is available for your users. Learn more about Inbox by Gmail.

Turn Inbox on or off in your Admin console

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. From the Admin console dashboard, go to Appsand thenG Suiteand thenGmailand thenAdvanced settings.

    Tip: To see Advanced settings, scroll to the bottom of the Gmail page.

  3. On the General Settings tab, scroll to End User Settings > Inbox by Gmail

    If you don’t see or can’t check Inbox by Gmail, it’s not available for your account. For example, your account may have data location restrictions.
  4. Read the important notes for enabling Inbox by Gmail. You should read and understand these points before you take the next steps.
  5. In the Inbox by Gmail section, check or uncheck the box to enable or disable Inbox.

    Note: Since conditions must be read and approved before enabling the service, the option to use the inherited setting is not available for a sub-organization.

  6. Click Save. It may take up to 48 hours for the change to take effect.

Users can switch between Inbox and Gmail

Your users have access to both Inbox and Gmail, and they can use either one based on their preference. To switch from Inbox to Gmail, your users can go to mail.google.com.
