About GWSMO

Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook

This article is for administrators setting up GWSMO for their users. If you're a user, go to Download & install GWSMO.

If your organization has switched to Google Workspace but some of your users would like to keep using Microsoft Outlook, you can use GWSMO. GWSMO is a plugin that allows users to synchronize mail, calendar events, contacts, notes, and tasks between their new Google Account and Outlook.

How do I set up GWSMO?

You need to do some setup steps in the Google Admin console. Then, your users can install the product on their computers and start syncing data.

How do users move & see their data?

Users can import their existing Outlook data to Google Workspace during or after the initial setup of their Outlook user profile. When importing, users can import directly from an Exchange account or a PST file.

After setting up a sync, the user accesses the synchronized data in Outlook on any device where they use their Google Account. They'll open Outlook and use it to manage most of their data.

Some features in Outlook aren't available or might not work as you'd expect. Also, some Google Workspace features are just like Outlook, but others work differently. For more information, go to Get started with GWSMO.

Is GWSMO right for my organization?

GWSMO is ideal if your users want to keep using Outlook. However, if you don’t plan on using Outlook anymore and want to move all your organization's data to Google Workspace, consider using Google Workspace Migration for Microsoft Outlook (GWMMO). For details, go to Move Outlook content to Google Workspace.
