Google Apps is now G Suite. Same service, new name. More about the name change.

Supported browsers for G Suite

To have the best experience with G Suite on your computer, use a supported, up-to-date browser. You’ll have access to the latest features. And you’ll get improved security and performance.

Supports all G Suite features and functionality.

For customers entitled to support, Google also provides one-to-one support for Chrome core functionality (under the G Suite agreement).

Microsoft Edge
Internet Explorer

Works well with G Suite but does not support:

  • Offline access to Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides
  • Desktop notifications in Gmail

Also, you can’t make Hangouts video calls using Microsoft Edge. But if Internet Explorer 11 is installed, Hangouts will redirect you there for video calls.

Supported versions

We support the latest version of Google Chrome. Normally, Chrome updates automatically when a new version becomes available. If you don't have the latest version, you can update Chrome yourself. For details, see Update Google Chrome.

Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft

We support the current and the previous major release of Firefox®, Safari®, and Microsoft® browsers. This currently includes Microsoft Edge™ and Internet Explorer® 11. Each time a new browser version is released, we begin supporting that version and stop supporting the third most recent version.

Tip: If your organization depends on an older version of Internet Explorer, consider a dual browser strategy.

Required browser settings

To use G Suite, enable cookies and JavaScript® in your browser.

Using a virtual browser

Browsers on virtual environments, such as Citrix® and VMware®, might not support all G Suite functionality. For the best experience, use a supported browser on your local computer.

Using an unsupported browser

If you use G Suite on an older or unsupported browser, some features might not work, or an application might not open. For example, on an unsupported browser:

  • You can view but not update your calendars.
  • You’ll be redirected to the basic Gmail interface.
  • Drawings and presentations in Docs editors don't display properly.

Using G Suite on mobile

For the best experience on your mobile device, use the native apps built for Android and iOS® devices. To learn about supported versions of mobile apps, see G Suite mobile apps update policy.
