Find a user account

user account page To manage a user's settings, go to their account page in your Google Admin console. Here, you can do things like change a user's password, give them another email address, and more.

Either browse to the user's page, or search, as described below.

Browse to a user's account page

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console.
  2. From the dashboard, click Users.
  3. Locate the user in the list. Then click their name to open their account page.

If your users are grouped in organizational units, select the one they belong to.

You might need to click filter to see organizational units.

Search for a user's account page

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console.
  2. Type the user's name or email address in the search box at the top.
  3. In the list of matching accounts that appears, click an account to go to its page.

Search looks for addresses and first and last names that begin with your search text. It doesn't look for text in the middle or end of an address or name. For example, searching for bert returns results for Bert and Bertrand but not for Robert.

Shortcuts and tips

Use search operators to narrow your search

Search for user accounts based on other criteria or narrow down your search by using any of the following operators. Enter an operator, followed by a colon and your search text.

Operator Finds users... Examples
domain In a specific domain domain=example.com
email Whose email addresses match your search text email:rob@example.com
firstname Whose first names match your search text firstname:rob
lastname Whose last names match your search text lastname:smith

Tip. Searches can return group accounts, too. If you use search operators, however, you must include the email operator to return any group results, as in email=marketing.

For all other search operators, go here.

Combine search operators

Enter two or more search operators to narrow your search even further.

Example Finds users...
domain=example.com email:rob In example.com whose email addresses start with rob
domain=example.com firstname:rob In example.com whose first names start with rob
firstname:rob lastname:smith Whose first names start with rob and last names start with smith
domain=example.com email:rob firstname:bob In example.com whose email addresses start with rob and firstnames start with bob.
Download a list of users

You can download a list of all users in your domain, or create a list filtered by user type (for example active, invited, or suspended users) or by organization. The user list is downloaded as a .csv file.

You can only create a filtered user list if your domain has fewer than 10,000 users.
  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console.
  2. From the dashboard, click Users.
  3. (Optional) Filter the user list by type or organization:
You might need to click filter to see organizational units.
  4. At the top of the Users page, click Settings and choose Download users.
  5. Choose whether to download a list of users based on any filters you've applied, or a list of all users.
A list of all users will contain all user types (including suspended users) and users in all organizations within your domain.
  6. Click OK.

The downloaded .csv file contains each user's email address, first name, last name, last login, first login, the available user quota (the number of additional user accounts available), and whether or not the user has enrolled in two-factor authorization.
