Set up Google Apps billing and payments
To use Google Apps beyond your 30-day free trial, set up a billing for your subscription and start making monthly automatic payments.
Start billing setup
Sign in to your Google Admin console. Then on your dashboard, click the button to set up Billing.
Or click on your dashboard and follow the link to set up billing for your Google Apps subscription.
Trial expired? If you sign in to your Admin console and see a message that your service is suspended, click Fix this to set up billing and lift the suspension.
Choose your billing country and currency
Next, choose the country where you do business, and a currency you want to pay in. The country you choose determines what payment methods and currencies you can use to pay for your subscription.
Important: You can't later change the billing country or currency you choose here. We recommend that you choose the country where your business resides.

Choose a billing plan for making payments
Flexible Plan: You're billed monthly for each user account. You can add and remove users at any time and pay only for accounts used that month. You can cancel service at any time to stop all payments.
Annual Plan: You're billed monthly at a discounted rate. To earn the discount, you commit to paying a full year's subscription for a minimum number of user licenses. You can purchase more licenses at any time, but you can reduce licenses only when renewing your contract at the end of a year. If you cancel service before a year is up, you still pay for the full year.

Next, review your plan and check the box to accept the Google Apps agreement.
Annual Plan: Remember that if you choose the Annual Plan, you commit to paying for a full year of service for the licenses you purchase now—even if you cancel service before the year is up.
However, your commitment doesn't begin until your 30-day free trial ends. If you're still in your trial, you can switch to the Flexible Plan before your trial ends without paying a closeout charge. But once your trial ends, you commit to the annual payment.
Select your type of billing account
Next, specify whether your Google Apps service is for personal or business use.
If you select Business and you're a European Union customer, you can specify a valid VAT number that will prevent you from incurring Irish Value Added Tax (VAT) charges (23%). For details, see VAT overview and VAT inclusions in costs.
Important: Choose carefully: You can't change your Business or Individual setting later.
Enter your contact or business information
Enter the name, address, and contact information you'd like associated with your billing account. This information will appear on invoices and receipts generated by your account.
Your email address is where we'll send important notifications about your payments.
You'll notice that we fill in some of this information for you, based on details you entered when you signed up for service. You can change this information here. You can also come back to your billing settings to change it later.
Set up payments
Finally, enter a payment method we can charge for your monthly payment. You have these options:
Credit / debit card: Google accepts international cards in over 230 countries from Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
Bank account: Depending on your billing country, we may be able to withdraw payments directly from your bank account (also called direct debit).
If your bank account is in the US, you must verify the account before we can begin payments. This can take several days. If your free trial will expire before then, add a credit card now as your payment method. Then come back later to switch automatic payments to your bank account.
You're done with billing setup!
As long as the payment method associated with your subscription remains valid and up to date, your Google Apps service continues uninterrupted. Your first automatic payment will occur at the beginning of the month after your free trial ends.
Questions?What if my country isn't listed when I try to add my billing address?
In some countries, the billing address you specify for a payment method must be in the same country as the billing country you select when you set up your Google billing account. If that's true for your location, you can't enter any other country in a billing address. Nor can you change the billing country associated with your account.
If your billing address isn't in the country you selected for your billing account, you can:
- Add a new payment method with a billing address that is in your billing account's country.
- Transfer your account to one of our Google Apps partners who might be able to change your billing account's country for you.
This depends on the size and variability of your work force. Here's what to keep in mind:
- Annual contract: With the Annual Plan, you commit to paying for one year of service, while there is no contract with a Flexible Plan.
- Price: With the Annual Plan, you pay less per user, per year than with the Flexible Plan. See pricing.
- Removing users: With the Annual Plan, you commit to paying a monthly fee for a minimum number of user licenses, for a full year. You can't reduce the number of licenses (and therefore your monthly payments) until it's time to renew the contact. With the Flexible Plan, you can remove user accounts at any time and your next monthly payment will go down accordingly.
The Flexible Plan might therefore be best if you have a variable workforce. For example, businesses that provide vacation services might double in size during the summer months. A Flexible Plan allows these companies to provide temporary employees with Google Apps and only pay for the service while it's used. User accounts can then be deleted when employees leave at the end of the summer.
The Annual Plan might be best if you have a larger workforce and your team is generally growing in size. You pay a lower monthly rate for each user license. And you can add licenses as your workforce grows.
During your free trial: You can switch plans at any time.
After your trial expires: You can switch from the Flexible to Annual Plan at any time. To switch from the Annual to Flexible Plan, however, you must wait until your annual contract is up for renewal.

- Google Apps: Once your free trial is over and your paid subscription begins, we begin charging your payment method at the beginning of the following month. If your paid service begins in May, for example, we charge you at the beginning of June. After that, automatic charges continue to occur at the beginning of each month.
- Domain Registration: We debit your account when you initially purchase your domain, then charge your payment method at the beginning of the following month. If your domain is set to auto-renew, we renew your domain 7 days prior to the annual renewal date and charge your payment method at the beginning of the following month.
Before we can debit your new bank account, we need to verify that it's really yours. How long this takes depends on your location:
- If you're in the US, we verify the account by making a small deposit in your account that you then enter in your Billing settings. This process can take up to 10 days (but it often happens much sooner). For details, see Verify bank account (US).
- If you're in the UK or Europe, we can typically verify your account within an hour after you enter valid account information in your billing settings.
