Sample Drive email for new users

If you'd like to notify your users about Google Drive, you can customize the template below and send it out as an email.

Modify or delete all sections in red, as appropriate for your organization.

Dear {user},

We're excited to announce Google Drive, a way to access and share all your files and folders, at any time and on any device.

What is Drive?

Think of Drive as your personal stash of files and folders that follows you wherever you go—it lets you keep everything and share anything. With Drive, you can access files, folders, and Google documents (such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides) from a web browser or any mobile device where you've installed Drive.

How do I try out Drive?

  1. Visit Google Drive on the web at drive.google.com.

  2. Use Drive File Stream to quickly access My Drive and Team Drive files on your computer, without using disk space. We’ve installed Drive File Stream for you, so you can skip that step and access your Drive files right away.

Customize this step for your organization. For example:

    • If you want users to install Drive File Stream themselves, remove the second sentence.
    • If you use Backup and Sync instead, replace this step with: “Use Backup and Sync to sync files from your computer to Google Drive on the web. This lets you access files from your computer on any device, at any time.”
  3. Upload existing files to Drive.

How much storage do I have for my Drive files?

You have {15 GB | 30 GB | unlimited storage} to use for Drive, Gmail, and photos. If you need more storage, you can purchase additional storage on your own, or contact your administrator. Describe how you want your users to buy or request storage. See Options for adding storage to learn more.
