Name format

You can control how email sender names appear in Gmail. The options are First Last or Last, First. For example: Bob Smith, or Smith, Bob, whichever more closely mirrors the culture of your organization.

Important: Name format settings apply only to messages sent with Gmail mobile or web apps and the Contacts web app.

To change name format settings:

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

  2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Appsand thenG Suiteand thenGmailand thenUser settings.
  3. Under Name format, choose the option First, Last or Last, First.
  4. To establish this setting for all users in your domain, uncheck the Allow users to customize this setting box. Check the box to allow your users to choose their preferred name format.

Note: It may take up to one hour before name format changes take effect.
