Choose a language for a group


This feature requires turning on Google Groups for Business.

Group owners and managers can set the primary language for a group. This setting controls the language of automated email messages to the group.

For example, when you add members to a group, they receive notification messages in the group's primary language. Other messages that appear in the primary language include email digests, moderation messages, and undeliverable-message notifications.

To set a group's primary language:

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

  2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Groups.

    If you don't see Groups on the Home page, at the bottom, click More controls.

  3. Point to a group, and click Edit settings.
  4. At the bottom of the page, click advanced settings. You’re taken to the group's permissions page in Google Groups.
  5. Click Informationand thenGeneral information
  6. Select a language from the Group's primary language drop-down menu.
  7. Click Save.
