Before people in your organization can use Colab Pro or Pro+, they need a license for the service. It can take up to 24 hours for a user’s license to be active.
Assign Colab licenses
Before you begin: Make sure you have the Colab additional Google service turned on for your organization or the organizational units or access groups that will be using Colab. For details, go to Turn Google Colab on or off for users.

Option 1: Assign licenses to individual usersTo complete these steps, you need the appropriate User management privilege. Without the correct privilege, you won't see all the controls needed to complete these steps.

Sign in with an administrator account to the Google Admin console.
If you aren’t using an administrator account, you can’t access the Admin console.
- Check the box next to each user who needs a license.
- At the top, click Assign licenses
Colab Pro or Colab Pro+.
- Click Assign.

Before you begin: Create a comma-separated values (CSV) file with the full email address of each user who needs a license. Add one address per line.

Sign in with an administrator account to the Google Admin console.
If you aren’t using an administrator account, you can’t access the Admin console.
- At the top, click Bulk update users.
- Click Attach CSV File.
- Select the file and click Upload.

Important: Assigning licenses to an organizational unit only gives users in that organizational unit a license. Users in child organizational units aren't assigned a license.

- At the side, select the organizational unit or access group that you want to assign licenses to. You can also search for an organizational unit or group.
- Check the Name box.
- At the top, click Assign licenses

- Check the box next to each user.
- At the top, click More options

- Click Remove.
- To remove Colab licenses from all users in an organizational unit:
- On the side, click Users from select organizational units and select the organizational unit.
- At the top, click More options
Remove Licenses
Colab Pro or Colab Pro+.
- Click Remove.
Automatically assign licenses to new users
To automatically assign Colab Pro or Pro+ licenses to new users in your organization, go to Automatically assign a license to every user in your organization.
