Hide Groups or domain shared contacts

As a Directory admin, you can set which Google Groups and domain shared contacts are visible to other users in your organization. When a group or domain shared contact is visible to a user, their information is available in search, and their email address autocompletes in services like Gmail and Google Drive.

Before you begin: If needed, learn how to apply the setting to a department or group.

Update Workspace resource type visibility

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. In the Admin console, go to Menu and then Directoryand thenDirectory settings.
  3. Click Workspace resource type visibility.

    This setting can be affected by changes you made in Directory settingsand thenSharing settings.

    For example, if you check the Show only domain profiles box, this hides domain shared contacts even if you are trying to make them visible using the Workspace resource type visibility setting.

  4. (Optional) To apply the setting only to some users, at the side, select an organizational unit (often used for departments) or configuration group (advanced). Show me how

  5. In the Visibility section, check the Workspace resource types you want to let users see.
  6. Click Save. Or, you might click Override for an organizational unit.

    To later restore the inherited value, click Inherit (or Unset for a group).

    Changes can take up to 24 hours but typically happen more quickly. Learn more
