After you sign up for Google Workspace with Gemini, we charge your primary payment method at the beginning of the next month. If your service starts in May, for example, we charge you at the beginning of June. After that, the billing cycle continues automatically at the beginning of each month.
Billing plans
- With the Flexible Plan, you pay for each user that has a Google Workspace with Gemini license each month. You can add and remove licenses at any time. If you add or remove licenses during any month, we prorate your payments. For example, if you add a license to a user on April 1 and remove their license on April 15, we charge you for only half a month of service.
- With the Annual/Fixed-Term Plan, you pay each month for a month's portion of the licenses you signed up for. You can add more licenses to your commitment at any time, and your monthly charge goes up. But you can only reduce the number of licenses (and reduce your monthly payment) when it's time to renew your plan. The Annual/Fixed-Term plan offers the lowest per user per month price compared to the Flexible Plan.

Important note for new Workspace customers
If your Workspace account has never paid for Google services, you must make a first payment before you can add Google AI Ultra for Business to your account. You can wait until your first automatic payment processes. Or, to give your users access right away, make a manual payment of at least $30 USD to your account. For details, go to Make a manual payment or pay early.
Note the following:
- This restriction doesn't apply to accounts that were purchased through a reseller or Google Sales.
- In rare cases, it might take several days after payment before you can add Google AI Ultra for Business to your account.
Why was I charged after cancellation?
If you cancel your subscription, you're billed at the start of the next month for any outstanding charges in your account. The amount is calculated according to your billing plan:
- Flexible Plan—You're charged for the days you used the service. For example, if you cancel on the 15th of this month, you're billed for half a month of service.
- Annual/Fixed-Term Plan–If you cancel your subscription before the contract is over, you're still responsible for the full value of the commitment. We'll charge your account an amount equal to the remaining balance.
