OVH MX records

Introduction

To update your MX records with this Domain Name System (DNS) provider, first understand MX records and learn how to configure them for Google Apps in general.

Steps

  1. Log in to your account at www.ovh.com by entering your username and password.
  2. Under Tab domain, click the domain that you're using with Google Apps.
  3. Under the heading Access to sections, click eMails.
  4. Under the header Advanced, click Options.
  5. Under the header Manage your sub domain, click Delete.
  6. Delete any existing MX records and click OK.
  7. Back in the MX Management area, click Create.
  8. Leave the field subdomain blank.
  9. Select Personalised from the dropdown menu configuration.
  10. You can then add the MX records of backup servers with a lower priority than the primary mail server. Click on Domain & DNS.
  11. Under the header DNS zone, click DNS Zone.
  12. Under the header Management of the mail entries click MX Type.
  13. Leave the field subdomain blank.
  14. Include the MX record values shown in the MX record values table.
  15. Select Force the operation.
Be aware it may take as long as 72 hours before DNS changes are propagated, depending on the time to live (TTL) that was configured for your records. Until records have been updated worldwide, you will still receive traffic to your old server.
