How your organization can find Marketplace apps

You and your users can use the Google Workspace Marketplace to find and install apps to expand core Google Workspace services, such as Google Drive or Gmail, and standalone apps that enhance the existing capabilities of Google Workspace.

How Google reviews Marketplace apps

When a developer submits an app to the Marketplace to be publicly available, Google reviews the submission to make sure the app meets our guidelines. The developer must provide information about the app’s features and how it works. Links to help users get started or how to contact the developer for support are also included. Google also conducts regular reviews for the most popular apps. Additionally, apps that use Google APIs to access user data might have to complete a verification process before the app is made available on the Marketplace. Whether verification is needed depends on what type of user data the app accesses and the degree of access that’s needed. For more information, see How do I submit for verification?

How app pricing works

App developers have different pricing options for Marketplace apps, and they take any payments directly from users. Google doesn’t handle payments or verify the accuracy of pricing information in the Marketplace.

A developer can choose from the following pricing options:

  • No charge—The app and all features have no charge for use.
  • Paid with a no charge trial—Users pay for the app, but there’s a trial available with no charge.
  • Paid with some no charge features—Users pay for some app features. Other features have no charge.
  • Paid—Users pay for the app and all features.

How apps are organized & ranked

The Marketplace displays relevant apps based on a user’s interests and needs. The apps are ranked based on:

  • App-experience quality and editorial value—Apps in the Editor’s choice category are curated by Google. For more information, see Editor’s choice.
  • Relevancy—Search results are based on how relevant the app’s name and description are to the search term, the app’s popularity, and its user-experience rating. Popularity and user experience have similar importance.
  • Popularity—Ranking is based on the number of users that have the app installed. Apps with the most users are in the Most popular category.  Note that the number of users that have the app installed, can also be seen in the app's listing details in the Marketplace. This includes both those users who have installed it individually themselves, and those whose administrators have installed it for them through an admin install.
  • User experience—The number of ratings and average rating are used to order apps in the Top rated category. Google doesn’t verify user reviews and ratings. However, if a review violates our policies, it will be removed. Users can also report abusive reviews.
