Update your scripts for video ad creation

As of the 28th of February, 2022, videos will be represented in your scripts using assets (for example AdVideoAsset and AdImageAsset) instead of Google Ads media files. If you use scripts to create video ads, use the instructions in the section below to learn how to update your scripts.

Note: The instructions below are part of the new design for the Google Ads user experience. To use the previous design, click the 'Appearance' icon, and select Use previous design. If you're using the previous version of Google Ads, review the Quick reference map or use the Search bar in the top navigation panel of Google Ads to find the page that you’re searching for.

Update your script

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Tools icon Tools Icon.
  2. Click the Bulk actions drop-down in the section menu.
  3. Click Scripts.
  4. Choose the script that you’d like to update, then update those sections of the code that refer to video media, so that they instead refer to video assets.
  5. Click Save.
