How to change your Home Area or Current Location

When you first sign up for YouTube TV, you'll be asked to set your Home Area. This determines what you can watch and record on YouTube TV.
How do I change my Home Area?
You can change your Home Area once every 12 months, and it should only be changed when you permanently move or if you're away from home for more than 90 days. Here's how to change your Home Area:
- Open the YouTube TV app and login
- Select your profile photo in the upper right side of the screen. Then click Location.
- On the Home Area line, if it's not correct, hit UPDATE.
If you have trouble updating your Home Area, or if you've already updated your Home Area twice in the past 12 months but need to do so again, reach out to support directly. Walk through the prompts, and you'll be presented with an option to contact YouTube TV support via online chat. https://support.google.com/youtubetv/gethelp
How do I update or confirm my Current Location?
If you're having trouble viewing certain networks, or if YouTube TV asks you to confirm your location, you'll want to update your Current Location. Here's how:
- Open the YouTube TV app and login.
- Select your profile photo in the upper right side of the screen. Then click Location.
- On the Current Location line, hit UPDATE.
- If you're doing this from a TV or streaming device, YouTube TV might prompt you to finish on your mobile device. You'll be asked to go to tv.youtube.com/verify. Be sure to allow the website to access your device's location to verify your Current Location.
You might see a prompt to confirm your location if you travel a lot, or if you have a specific internet provider. ISPs like T-Mobile Home Internet, Verizon Home Internet, satellite internet and others often change the location of your IP address more frequently than more traditional providers.
If you have trouble updating your Current Location, reach out to support directly. Walk through the prompts, and you'll be presented with an option to contact YouTube TV support via online chat. https://support.google.com/youtubetv/gethelp
Still having trouble?
If you're having trouble setting your Home Area or Current Location, make sure that your device's location permissions are turned ON for YouTube TV.
- Open your device's settings, and tap Apps and Notifications.
- Find YouTube TV in the apps list.
- Tap Permissions > Location to view your current settings.
- Switch to a different setting if necessary. YouTube TV needs full access to your device's location.
It's also important that any VPN's or ad blockers are turned OFF for YouTube TV, as these might also cause issues setting your location.

Can I keep my Home Area's local networks when traveling away from home?
No; local networks are based on your device's current location. However, if you add a show to your library before you leave home, you'll be able to watch it in its entirety when traveling — after the show has fully finished recording.
Can a family member watch YouTube TV when I'm traveling?
Absolutely! When traveling, you'll get a prompt on your device to confirm that you're in fact traveling. You'll receive the local networks of the location you're visiting. Back at home, your other family members will be able to continue watching as they would usually.
