Manage your credit limit

Your credit limit is the maximum value of unpaid purchases or liability you can have at any given time. This liability includes unpaid purchases of Google products and services, and new purchases that haven’t generated invoices.

Your credit limit covers all accounts linked to your Payment Profile.

How it works

When you increase your account spend or purchase Google products and services with your account, like Ads or Cloud services, your liability with Google increases. As you pay off invoices, your liability with Google decreases.

Google regularly reviews your credit limit. Based on your payment history and other factors, your credit limit may increase or decrease.

If you would like to increase your credit limit with Google, request a credit limit increase.

Credit limit warnings

If you have opted into receiving payments-related emails, when your liability approaches your credit limit, Google will notify you by email that your credit limit is almost reached. Google will also follow up if your credit limit is exceeded (your email address will need to be verified to receive these notifications).

Keep in mind, if you rapidly increase your spend and exceed your credit limit within a narrow window, you may move right into suspension with no early warning.

Request a credit limit increase or request your current credit limit

Tip: You can request a credit limit increase at any time, but we suggest you do so before you increase the amount you spend on Google products and services. If you spend more than your credit limit, your service may be restricted.

To increase your credit limit or request your current credit limit, contact us in either of these 2 ways:

  • Reply directly to the credit limit warning email, if you've received one. This email is sent to verified payments users on the Payments profile opted into receiving payments emails.
  • Contact your Google representative.

We review requests and respond accordingly. The Credit team reviews each request on a case-by-case basis, so you may be asked for more documentation. Some examples may include:

  • Audited financial statements
  • Bank guarantees
  • Spending projections
